Why is hijaab so important?

Hijaab is obligatory for women. Allaah is the One Who has commanded women to cover their adornments, including the face, bosom and all their adornments. This has been enjoined upon women as a protection against abuse and temptation. That is because women are the focus of desire, and the focus of what those who are tempted look at. So if a woman uncovers her beauty she will provoke desire, and people will become attracted to her and will follow her. This is the cause of many immoral actions such as adultery and the things that lead to it. So hijaab is obligatory for women and was enjoined upon them in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):

Tell the believing woman to cast down their eyes, guard their chastity, and not to show off their beauty except what is permitted by the law. Let them cover their breasts with their veils. They must not show off their beauty to anyone other than their husbands, father, father-in-laws, sons, step-sons, brothers, sons of brothers and sisters, women of their kind, their slaves, immature male servants, or immature boys. They must not stamp their feet to show off their hidden ornaments. All of you believers, turn to God in repentance so that perhaps you will have everlasting happiness. (24:31)

The veil (khimaar) is that which comes down from the head and covers the face, and the jilbaab is an outer garment with which a woman covers herself, leaving no part of her body showing.

And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“…And when you ask (his [the Prophet’s] wives) for anything you want, ask them from behind a screen…”

[al-Ahzaab 33:53]

So it is a protection for women so that there will be no room for people to treat them as playthings.

“And whosoever does righteous actions- whether male or female, and is a believer, will enter paradise”
(Sura An-Nisa 4:124).

guard their private parts and do not display their adornment save
what is apparent of it; and let them wear their head-coverings

There is blood on someone's hands

More than one million Iraqis have died because of the war in Iraq since the US-led invasion of the country in 2003, according to a study published on Wednesday.

A fifth of Iraqi households lost at least one family member between March 2003 and August 2007 due to the conflict, said data compiled by London-based Opinion Research Business (ORB) and its research partner in Iraq, the Independent Institute for Administration and Civil Society Studies (IIACSS).

The study based its findings on survey work involving the face-to-face questioning of 2,414 Iraqi adults aged 18 or above, and the last complete census in Iraq in 1997, which indicated a total of 4.05 million households.

Respondents were asked how many members of their household, if any, had died as a result of the violence in the country since 2003, and not because of natural causes.

“We now estimate that the death toll between March 2003 and August 2007 is likely to have been in the order of 1,033,000,” ORB said in a statement.

The margin of error for the survey was 1.7%, making the estimated range between 946,000 and 1.12 million fatalities.

The highest rate of deaths throughout the country occurred in Baghdad, where more than 40% of households had lost a family member.

According to a July 2007 estimate by the US, Iraq’s population is around 27 million.

The country has been wracked by conflict since the March 2003 invasion which deposed dictator Saddam Hussein, with UN estimates putting the number of displaced people from the conflict at more than four million, nearly half of which have fled to neighbouring countries.

A small number of those refugees have begun returning to Iraq – around 20,000 arrived from Syria in December – the Iraqi Red Crescent said earlier this month, suggesting an improved security situation.

Food for Thought….indeed

The Holy Prophet (saww) has said,
*”The example of my Ahlul-Bayt is like the **Ark** of Noah; whoever boarded it, he was saved; and whoever remained behind, he drowned and perished”.*
*LESSON ON HIJAB***
It is reported that the Holy Prophet (saww) once asked his daughter: *”What is the thing, which is a blessing for a woman?”* She (as) replied, *”She must not see a strange man and the strange man should not see her”.** *
The most important message of this tradition is that of *Hijab. *A woman must cover herself and preserve her modesty in such a manner that neither does she come into unnecessary contact with Na-Mahram men, nor do they come into unnecessary contact with her!
*THE THREE KINDS OF WOMEN***
Today, we find that there are three kinds of Muslim women:
1. One who do not wear Hijab at all and their most usual argument to justify their action is that: ‘As long as our hearts are pure and clear, we do not have to put on any Hijab.
2. The second kind is of those who put on Hijab but not properly. By this I mean:
– They either don’t wear it properly
– Or they consider Hijab as a passport to freely see and communicate to the strangers.
3. And the third kind is of those women who not only cover Themselves, but they are extremely careful in their dealings with the strangers.
The question that arises here is that who amongst these three is correct?
The answer of this has been given to us in the history of Islam and those women who call themselves as Kaneezaan-e-Zahra (as), *should identify themselves with Sayyida Zahra (as).

Marhum Allama Zeeshan Haider in his book ‘Mahafil-o-Majalis’ *has related two incidents. These incidents are similar
to each other but there outcomes are different and paves way for Muslim women to choose whether they want to follow the *Seerah *of Sayyida Fatimah (as) or somebody else.
*INCIDENT ONE***
One day the Holy Prophet (saww) came to the house of one of his wives. (I will not name her). He (saww) brought along a person who was blind.
As he (saww) knocked at the door and sought permission to enter, the permission was granted. But then the Holy Prophet (saww) notified his wife that he (saww) had brought along a person who was blind.
When the wife heard this, she said, *’In that case there is nothing to worry. The man is blind and will therefore be unable to see me’.*
* *

*INCIDENT TWO***
The other incident tells us that likewise, the Holy Prophet (saww) once brought along a blind person to the house of Sayyida Fatimah (as) and knocked at her door. He (saww) also informed her about the blind person’s company.
Sayyida Fatimah (as) asked her father to wait so that she could cover herself. When the Holy Prophet (saww) said,
*”But Fatimah!** This man is blind and he cannot see you”.***
She (as) responded by saying,
*”O Father! So what if he is blind? He cannot see me but I can see him – so allow me to cover myself”.***

*CONCLUSION:*
From these two incidents it becomes crystal clear who among the three kinds of Muslim women is right and who among them has true right to call herself as *Kaneez-e-Z**ahra (as).*

*DIFFICULTY IN HIJAB***
Many Muslim women do not wear Hijab in fear of being ridiculed by the wider society. They should have firm faith in Allah (SWT) and always pray to Him through the Waseelah of Sayyida Fatimah (as) to give them courage and protect them from every sort of mischief whilst they are observing Hijab.
There is no doubt that whenever a person invokes to Allah (SWT) in the name of Sayyida Fatimah (as), He (SWT) listens to their prayers.
Umm Ayman was purchased as a slave by Hazrat Abdullah bin Abdul-Muttalib (as) – the father of the Holy Prophet (saww).
In this household, the slaves were treated as human beings with great respect. The mother of the Holy Prophet (saww), Bibi Aamina (as) used to treat her like her own sister. She (as) would dine with her and talk to her like her own family member. Umm Ayman lived a very long life. She died at the age of 95 years.
It is mentioned that after the death of Sayyida Zahra (as), she was not at ease and simply couldn’t live in the house without her. So she decided to leave Madina.
On the way to Makkah, she felt extremely thirsty. She found no water anywhere so she thought that she would die of thirst. She turned towards the sky and said,
“O Allah! Will it please You if I died of thirst though I am the slave of the Prophet of Allah and his daughter”.***
Umm Ayman had not completed her dua’ when suddenly a bucket of water descended from the sky. She drank the water, thanked Allah (SWT) for it and proceeded on her journey. This heavenly water had performed such a miracle on her that for seven years Umm Ayman neither felt hunger nor thirst. When the people of Makkah found this out, in order to verify, they made her stand for long hours in the scorching heat but she never felt thirsty or asked anyone for water.

(Ahwaal al-Nisaa)

So when true followers of Hazrat-e-Zahra (as) invoke to Allah (SWT) by her name, Allah (SWT) answers their prayers. Muslim women should not abandon the Hijab in fear of being ridiculed; rather they should put on and pray to Allah (SWT) through the Waseelah of this great lady to protect them.

Food for Thought….indeed

“There are 3 qualities, which if present in a faithful, is supported and backed by Allah (swt) and Allah provides him the shade of His celestial throne and secures him from the great horror of the dooms day:

  1. The one who gives those rights to others which he wishes and looks forward to from others;
  2. The one who does not extend his hand and does not take a step ahead till he knows (for sure) that his step is in the (direction of) obedience of Allah or in his sin;
  3. The person who does not find fault with his brother till he abandons that fault himself.”

Food for Thought

The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundnce of those who have much, it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little” :

Cowardice asks the question – is it safe?
Expediency asks the question – is it politic?
Vanity asks the question – is it popular?
But conscience asks the question – is it right?
And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular; but one must take it because it is right.

9 Words Woman Use…

1.)  Fine : This is the word women use to end an argument when they are
right and you need to shut up.

2.)  Five Minutes : If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour.
Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more
minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3.)  Nothing : This is the calm before the storm. This means something,
and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing
usually end in fine.

4.) Go Ahead : This is a dare, not permission. Don’t Do It!

5.) Loud Sigh : This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement
often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an
idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing
with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6.)  That’s Okay : This is one of the most dangerous statements a wom an
can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard
before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7.) Thanks : A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say
you’re welcome.

8.) Whatever : Is a women’s way of saying !!!!!!

9.) Don’t worry about it, I got it : Another dangerous statement, meaning
this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but
is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking ‘What’s
wrong?’ For the woman’s response refer to #3.Then you RUN!

Laughter – the best medicine

A woman goes to Italy to attend a two week, company training session.

Her husband drives her to the airport and wishes her to have a good trip.

The wife answers, “Thank you honey, what would you like me to bring for you?”

The husband laughs and says, “An Italian girl!!!”

The woman kept quiet and left.

Two weeks later he picks her up in the airport and asks, “So, honey, how the trip was?”

“Very good, thank you.”

“And, what happened to my present?”

“Which present?” She asked.

“The one I asked for – an Italian girl!!” “Oh, that” she said “Well, I did what I could; now we have to wait for few months to see if it is a girl!!!”
