What you keep in your wallet……….

What you keep in your wallet will determine how at risk you are for identity theft in the chance you lose it. Here are 10 items experts suggest keeping at home.

We all make sure we’ve got our keys, wallet and phone before we head out the door, but more often than not, we are carrying around things that are better left at home. Some items we carry on a daily basis can be virtually impossible to replace, and others may leave us at risk for identity theft in the event of loss. We checked in with the personal finance experts at LearnVest to find the top 10 things you shouldn’t carry in your purse or wallet.

Social Security Card

“You may carry it around thinking you need a back-up source of ID, but these days you don’t really need it,” says Maria Lin, editor in chief at Learnvest. If your Social Security card gets in the wrong hands, someone could open a credit card, apply for a loan, or even buy a car with the information. It’s nine digits, just memorize it.

Your Passport

If you’re traveling internationally, of course you can’t leave your passport at home, but you can leave it in the hotel safe. When you are abroad, make a photocopy of your passport to have in your wallet for identification along with your driver’s license. “If you lose your passport or get mugged in a foreign country, it’s such a horrible hassle,” says Lin. “You have to go to the embassy, and it’s a vacation nightmare.” If you’re traveling in the U.S., use your driver’s license instead. “Your passport is such a primo document for your identity, if someone gets a hold of it, you can really put yourself at risk for identity theft,” says Lin.

Passwords/Pass codes

Although most PIN numbers are only four digits long, some people still write them down so they don’t forget. “If you store any type of ATM password or even a code for your home alarm in your wallet, you have basically gifted a thief with access to your life,” says Lin. If you absolutely can’t remember important pass codes, store them digitally on a password-protected phone, but never write them down and leave them in your wallet or purse.

A Non-Password Protected Phone

Today, many people have smart phones that allow them instant access to bank accounts, PayPal accounts, medical records, and more. Even if your phone only accesses e-mail, a thief could easily search for banking or ATM passwords or addresses, according to Lin. “Think about all the things you have digitally stored on your phone. You have to have it behind password protection. This way a thief can still erase your phone’s memory and use it for themselves, but they won’t have access to your data.”

Your Checkbook

“As innocuous as it seems, your checkbook has your bank account number and routing number on it, your address, and possibly imprints of your signature,” says Lin. Lin says that if you know you’re going to need to write a check one day, peel off one check out of your book and take it with you. If you know you’re going to need to write multiple checks in one day, go ahead and take your checkbook, but don’t get into the habit of carrying it around with you all the time, Lin says. “You want to prevent someone’s ability to just start writing out your blank checks and cashing them.”

Too Many Credit Cards

“A lot of people put all their cards in their wallet and carry them with them at all times,” says Lin. “But if your wallet gets lost or stolen, that means you’re going to have to sit and cancel every single one, and wait a week without any credit cards before you receive a replacement.” Only carry the one or two cards you use on a daily basis and a backup, and leave others at home. Also make sure you keep photocopies of the front and back of each card at home, Lin advises. The 1-800 number to call and report a lost or stolen card is very often on the back of your card — which doesn’t do you a lot of good once the card is no longer in your possession.

Too Much Cash

Lin offers the following rule of thumb when it comes to carrying cash: Bring only as much with you as you’re willing to lose. “It’s good to have a little cash on you at all times for emergencies, but you don’t want to carry so much that you’re going to feel a real hit if your wallet gets stolen.” For people on a “cash diet,” Lin recommends bringing only as much cash to cover the day’s expenses.

Gift Cards/Certificates

“A lot of people carry these around thinking, ‘I never know when I’m going to be passing this store,’ but chances are, you’re going to forget about it anyway, and if your wallet gets stolen, it’s one of the first thing thieves are going to use,” Lin says. Gift cards and gift certificates are just like cash — they don’t require ID for use. “Try to leave it at home and take it with you only when you are consciously going to shop at that store,” Lin says. “Make it a special excursion; it’s a treat to have free money to spend.”

Jewelry or USB Devices

“It may sound silly, but if you’re changing earrings or heading from a business meeting, it’s very possible you may forget and toss these things in the zipper compartment of your wallet,” says Lin. USB devices can be bad news in the hands of thieves if they contain confidential files. “It would be horrible to get your wallet stolen any day, but if you’re also losing your grandmother’s earrings or a presentation you’ve been working on for months, it’s even worse!”

Receipts

Sometimes receipts can have your credit card information on them, as well as your signature, which thieves could do a lot of damage with. Additionally, if you’ve just purchased a big-ticket item like a new computer or jewelry, you may need that receipt for warranty purposes. “If you’re planning to use your receipts for expense purposes at work, those few hundred dollars of business receipts can just vanish and your employer might not be so understanding,” says Lin. “Get in the habit of taking out your receipts every night instead of carting them around with you.”

Ford vs Microsoft

At a  recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates  reportedly compared  the computer industry with the auto  industry and stated,

‘If  Ford had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we  would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon.’

In   response to Bill’s comments, Ford issued a press release  stating:

If Ford  had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be  driving cars with the following characteristics (and I just love  this  part):

1. For no reason whatsoever, your car  would  crash………Twice a day.

2. Every time  they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a  new car.

3. Occasionally  your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to  pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows,  shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows   before you could continue. For some reason you  would  simply accept this.

4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver  such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to  restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the  engine.

5.  Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was  reliable, five times as fast and  twice as easy to drive – but  would run on only five  percent of the roads.

6. The oil, water temperature, and  alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single  ‘This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation’ warning  light.

7.  The airbag system would ask ‘Are you sure?’ before deploying.

8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your  car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you  simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key  and  grabbed  hold of the radio antenna.

9. Every  time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn  how to drive all over again because none of the controls would  operate in the same manner as  the  old car.

10. You’d have to press the ‘Start’ button to turn   the engine off.

Divine Justice and the Problem of Evil

http://www.al-islam.org/message-of-thaqalayn/vol-11-n-2/divine-justice-problem-evil-ghulam-husayn-adeel/

Introduction

Divine justice and the problem of evil is a fundamental question and one of the most discussed topics among theologians and philosophers in the last two thousand years. The most important reason for this attention given to the subject is that human beings have always been faced with natural and moral tragedies.

Consequently, some philosophers have doubted God’s justice; others have denied the existence of God or believed in duality, because they were not able to how God, the Benevolent, the Omnipotent, the Omniscient can let these happen.[1]

Among the Christian thinkers, there have been two historical types of theodicy: Augustine theodicy and Irenaen theodicy. The core of Augustine theodicy is goodness of God and goodness of the created world, but because of the Original Sin, all problems associated with pain and suffering have emerged. In contrast, the Irenaen theodicy is built on the purpose of a soul-making process.

Among Muslim theologians, Abu’l Hasan Ash‘ari and his followers denied objectivity of justice and injustice and maintained that whatever is done or commanded by God is good and just. On the contrary, the Mu‘tazilites and Shi‘ites believe in the objectivity of justice and choose divine justice as one of their principles. They believe that God does and commands only what is objectively good and just.

In what follows, we will first analyse the problem of evil and divine justice in general terms from a historical perspective. The phenomena of pain and suffering shall also be discussed. Then we will focus on the notion of divine justice and the extent to which this relates to the problem of evil from the point of view of Augustine theodicy. Finally, there will be a discussion about what I think to be an appropriate position to be held.

FASTING ON YAUMUL SHAK…….last day of Shabaan

Islamic Laws
FASTING ON YAUMUL SHAK
[doubtful if Ramadhan month has begun]

30th day of Shaban is called Yamul Shak (doubtful day) if you do not receive news about Ramadan moonsighting on 29th evening or before the end of 30th day.

It is haram to fast on 30th Shaban with the niyat intention of 1st of Ramadan.

It is Mustahab to keep fast on 30th Shaban but the Niyyat (intention) should be either
(a) with the Niyyat of Mafiz-zimma (to discharge my responsibility), or
(b) with the Niyyat of any Qaza fast of previous Ramadan, if any, or
(c) with the Niyyat of Mustahab Shaban fast.

If you do a double Niyyat of fasting (i.e. 30th Shaban or 1st Ramadan), then such a Niyyat is wrong according Ayatullah Khui, but it is OK according to Ayt Khomeini and Ayt Seestani.
If you are fasting on 30th Shaban, and if, at any time on that day, you get the news of moon sighting of 29th Shaban, then you must immediately change Niyyat to Niyyat of 1st of Ramadan.
If you have fasted on 30th Shaban (with any Niyyat), and afterwards you come to know that it was 1st of Ramadan, then your fast will automatically be counted as fast of 1st of Ramadan.

If you are not fasting on 30th Shaban, then following actions are necessary on you:
(a) If you get the news after sunset of 30th Shaban or later that the moon had been actually sighted on evening of 29th Shaban, then you have to keep Qaza of 1st Ramadan after the month of Ramadan.
(b) If you get the news of moon sighting after Zawal time (Islamic mid-day), then it is haram to eat or drink or do anything, which is not allowed during fasting from that time onward until Iftar time on that day, and you have to do Qaza of 1st of Ramadan later on.
(c) If you get the news of moon sighting before Zawal time (Islamic mid-day), then
(i) if you have not eaten or drunk anything or done anything which breaks fast, you must immediately do the Niyyat of fasting of Ramadan for  that day,
(ii) if you have eaten or drunk something or have done anything which breaks fast, then you have to act as if fasting for the rest of the day, and then do Qaza of 1st of Ramadan later on.

The importance of fasting in the last 3 days of Sha'baan

The Month of Sha’baan is ending and the Great Month of Ramadhan Mubarak is about to start……..

Imam Jaffer Sadiq(a.s.) reports that Prophet Mohammad(saww) has said that
“Sha’baan is my month and Ramadhan is the month of Allah(swt)
Therefore, if anyone observers one day of fasting during Sha’baan, I will do his/her “shafa’at” on the day of judgment
and one who observers two days of fasting, then his/her previous sins would be forgiven and
if someone observers three days of fasting, then it would be just like all the sins have been washed away.”

Imam Ali Reza(a.s.) has said that

If someone observes fast during the last three days of Sha’baan
and combines them with the fasting during the month of Ramadhan
then Allah(swt) will grant him/her the sawab of two months of continuous fasting .

It is, therefore, highly advisable to fast in the last three days of Sha’baan to become eligible for this great Sawab.

May Allah swt help, assist and guide all of us to attain the maximum benefit during this Holy Month.
Who knows who will be here next year and who would have left for his/her final journey!!

Are you depressed not happy with your body!!!!!

Norway massacre reminiscent of Oklahoma bombing says Editor of The Muslim News

Norway massacres reminiscent of Oklahoma bombing, says Muslim News editor

London, July 24, IRNA – The editor of Britain’s leading Muslim newspaper has drawn parallels between Norway’s worst terrorist attack and the Oklahoma, US, bombing in 1995.

“When the news of the bombing broke all the media, including al Jazeera English, began speculating that the perpetrators could be al-Qaeda, Islamists, Islamic terrorists,” Ahmed Versi of The Muslim News said about the massacre of scores at an island youth camp in Norway and the deadly bombing in Oslo.

Versi, whose paper monitors the numerous Islamophobic attacks in Britain, told IRNA that speculation even extended to the possibility that the Libyan government could be behind it but that there was “no mention of right wing extremists.”

“Again, when it transpired that it was a right-wing anti-Muslim Christian, the response was ‘it is unbelievable that a Norwegian would do such a thing’ even though most terrorist attacks in Europe are committed by non-Muslims,” he said.

He quoted figures from the European Police Office (Europol) showing that Muslims only carried out one out of the 498 terrorist attacks committed in the European Union in 2006.

“It reminded me of the Oklahoma bombing in the US when again Muslims were blamed for the 168 people killed, including 19 children under the age of 6. The bomber was again a right wing Christian,” Versi said.

There has been universal condemnation of the carnage and massacre carried out in Norway. Some papers described Friday’s horrendous killing as being equivalent to Norway’s 9/11.

The Muslim News has been a leading critic of the British government’s counter-terrorism strategy being so narrowly focused on al-Qaeda to such an extent that it alienates the country’s two million Muslim community, while warning of the dangers of overlooking threats posed by right-wing extremists.

“It is important that the security should look into the right wing anti-Muslim Christian extremists who are on the increase otherwise more innocent lives will be lost,” Versi said.

“This attack and others in Europe shows that extremism and terrorism is mostly perpetrated by non-Muslims,” he said.
